We are looking to fill an immediate opening for an experienced Applications Architect to work at our headquarters location in Chantilly, VA.

Applications Architect

Under the general direction of the Senior Manager, the Applications Architect will provide technical leadership to Long & Foster software project delivery. Define software technical requirements, and create high level architectural specifications, ensuring feasibility, functionality, and integration with existing systems and the enterprise. Considered a subject matter expert in software engineering, software architecture and software development frameworks and tools. Will guide multiple project teams of developers through project implementation. Promote and educate stakeholders on the use and value of optimized architectures. Provide consultation and guidance on complex projects as needed.

Essential Responsibilities:

1. Act as the technical subject matter expert on enterprise technology platforms, enterprise application integrations, enterprise data and software development frameworks. Promote use of shared infrastructure and applications to reduce costs and improve consistency of information flows.

2. Identify common data shared across the enterprise and participate in enterprise wide efforts to reach a common understanding of the data. Provide technical leadership to the technical integration of changes that impact multiple applications.

3. Provide ongoing technical leadership to development teams. Communicate technical direction, including application architecture and development standards. Ensure that development teams deliver a code base aligned to enterprise standards.

4. Provide technical support and guidance to development, support and infrastructure project teams. Conduct research and identify technical solutions to software related issues.

5. Responsible for evaluating technologies, defining standards, designing solution and reference architectures that solve stated business problems. Maintain enterprise development standards documents.

Job Requirements

Requirements:

  • Bachelor Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or equivalent
  • 10 years experience in software engineering. 5 years experience in technical lead role leading offshore software teams
  • 8+ years experience with SQL Server 2005-2012-2014
  • 6+ years experience with ASP.NET, C#, Javascript, MVC, RESTful architectures, WebServices, AWS Services (EC2-RDS-Redshift)
  • 5 years experience with Agile development and migrating Applications/Services to Cloud Infrastructures

Preferences:

  • MCSA or MCSE or MCPD (.NET Framework) or equivalent
  • CompTIA Security+ of CompTIA Network+ or ISTQB or ISO/27002 or equivalent
  • PMP - CSM - ITIL Intermediate Level or related
  • AWS - Azure - Comptia Cloud+ or related
