Assistant Accounts Payable Manager

Job Summary:

The Assistant Accounts Payable Manager assists the Accounts Payable Manager in the overall management of the Accounts Payable team. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the review of Accounts Payable documents and processes related to the timely, accurate payment to vendors, proper vendor file maintenance in accordance with state and Federal regulations, monitoring of ledger activities, year-end reporting, and audit inquiries.

The Assistant Accounts Payable Manager also serves as the primary trainer to the AP team providing training related to Accounts Payable process and procedures. In addition, will train all new employees on job related functions. Assists with supervision of staff of five (5) Accounts Payable processors. In the absence of the Accounts Payable Manager, performs additional duties as required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Handles the day-to-day work-flow and is responsible for ensuring work is performed in a timely manner
  • Acts as point of contact for inquiries from other departments including, but not limited to, resolution of PC issues
  • Assists the AP manager to establish and maintain controls to improve efficiency and effectiveness within the department
  • During month-end close process, assists with the reconciliation of general ledger entries and analyzes to ensure accuracy
  • Serves as back up for AP manager

Job Requirements

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of A/P experience; 1 year as a Lead, Team Lead, or Assistant Manager preferred
  • Strong organizational and presentation skills
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills - both written and verbal
  • W-9/1099 Reporting/1099/B Notice/TIN matching training/experience
