Join one of the most successful mortgage teams in the industry and put your creative mind to work!  With our recent expansion and the opening of our state-of-the-art training campus, we are looking for an experienced, creative Instructional Designer to help support the training initiatives for our 500+ employees.  In the Mortgage division of our company, the Instructional Designer will work with SMEs (Subject Matter Experts) to design and develop engaging learning programs, including, but not limited to, live trainings, workshops, eLearning courses, job aids, and new hire instructional materials.  Exhibiting the passion and desire to innovate and teach others, the Instructional Designer will help assess training needs, plan appropriate methods of training delivery, create content, and analyze results.

Instructional Designer

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Modify existing materials or create new design and development models appropriate for any given project
  • Apply proven instructional design theories, practices, and methods
  • Research and suggest new innovations in both learning design and education
  • Partner with SMEs to develop training programs and materials to meet identified needs of teams
  • Create customized exercises and activities that enhance the learning experience, including gamification, videos, etc.
  • Apply criteria to judge learner's knowledge and retention
  • Design the learning experience, storyboarding, art direction for the use of images (or other graphic design elements), script writing, production, and editing of video and sound, assemble the learning experience in Captivate (or other authoring tool)
  • Plan the sequence of learning activities (scaffold the learning)
  • Assist with maintaining the Learning Management System (LMS), including the reporting of training activities, usage, etc.

 

Job Requirements

  • Proven successful track record in instructional design, with 2-5 years' experience in the functions described for this position
  • Knowledge and application of adult learning principles
  • High level of proficiency in developing online multi-media content
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to work effectively with others
  • Highly motivated and self-directed
  • Ability to work on multiple projects at one time, meeting established deadlines
  • Experience with Adobe Captivate or other similar authoring tool
  • Experience working with Learning Management systems
  • Experience in the following areas is a plus:
    • Mortgage industry
    • Prior experience training on software systems, preferably Loan Originations systems
    • Experience as a live Trainer
  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Formal training in instructional design and/or adult learning
