Job Description

The Paralegal provides direct support to In-House Counsel in handling cases and preparing for hearings, trials, and meetings.  Performs administrative tasks as well as legal research in a variety of areas including, but not limited to, Real Estate, Insurance, Settlement Services, Mortgage, and Property Management.  Maintains case files and drafts legal documents.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Performs initial research on complaints received in Legal Department; gathers and arranges evidence and other legal documents for attorney review and case preparation
  • Drafts correspondence and memos for attorneys; interfaces with outside counsel, as necessary
  • Works on subpoenas and discovery in connection with Company litigation; retrieves and organizes evidence for use at depositions and trials
  • Updates litigation database with current information
  • Assists in handling various corporate real estate transactions

 

Job Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field
  • Minimum of 5+ years' related experience as a Paralegal in a law firm or corporate legal department
  • Proficiency with MS Office to include Word, Outlook, and Excel
  • Must possess a high level of discretion with confidential matters and be extremely detail-oriented
  • Experience with Legal Tracker or Serengeti is preferred
  • Knowledge of real estate industry preferred
