Key Responsibilities:

  • Under attorney supervision, analyzes existing contract documents to determine the responsibilities and the parties involved.
  • Conducts initial review and processing of ancillary contract documents (e.g., requests for commencement certificates, estoppels and subordination, non-disturbance and attornment agreements).
  • Prepares contract summaries and abstracts.
  • Conducts initial handling and redirection of outside and internal inquiries regarding contractual obligations (rental amounts, termination dates, contact information, insurance certificates, etc.).
  • Utilizes form documents to prepare (for attorney review) initial draft contracts, and contract amendments to account for extensions, changes in rates, etc.
  • Provides verbal and written communication with outside attorneys, agents and principals.
  • Conducts market research to determine market rates and terms .
  • Tracks finalized documents throughout the execution process. Coordinates with other departments as appropriate.
  • Completes specialized projects as requested.
  • Monitors new legislation and conducts general legal research.
  • Analyzes title documents, as needed.
  • Assists in investigating and resolving contract and other disputes.
  • Handles document distribution and storage.
  • Performs general administrative and clerical support as necessary.

Job Requirements

  • Must have a minimum of 3 years' experience as a Paralegal Generalist (Lease experience preferred)
  • Associate's degree is required; Paralegal certification is preferred
  • Prior real estate experience in a law firm or corporate legal department is preferred
  • Experience drafting lease provisions and reviewing estoppel certificates and SNDAs is preferred
  • Must be highly organized with the ability to juggle multiple deadlines in a fast-paced legal environment
  • Must have strong writing and communication skills along with attention to detail
  • Proficiency with MS Office
